Le Baligan was recommended by the staff at the Grand Hotel as their restaurant was closed on Monday and so we came here for lunch ... what a great recommendation. The restaurant was packed and deservedly so as the food, service, ambience was excellent. It was so good that we have already booked a table for our return trip in 2 weeks. This is seafood at its best ... an extensive menu so no lack of choice.I had a "soup lunch" .... a lobster cappuccino to start and the bouillabaisse main ... both sublime ... The main was so massive a serve that I sadly had to leave some despite my best efforts. My wife had the salmon starter and the sole main and she said they were perfect. The restaurant is a bit away from the trendy tourist area so mainly frequented by locals and those, like us, who have come on a recommendation. Not much English spoken, but to be expected, and generally seafood dishes translate quite well.Good wine selection including by the glass.TIP: Definitely wort making a reservation as was packed on a Monday.TIP: Highly recommended !!

Taking a short break in Cabourg I was looking for somewhere to eat on Saturday evening and found Le Baligan and booked it. I was so glad I did. The restaurant was really busy and they were turning people away (always a sign of something good). I really loved this place for a couple of reasons - 1 - it was full of locals and 2 - the food was fabulous. My husband started with oysters and I had prawns and then we had the symphonie de Baligan. A mixture of cooked shellfish served with black spaghetti (squid ink I think). It was amazing. The only minor disappointment was that we ordered 2 tarte tatin for dessert and due to a misunderstanding (probably my very bad french) we only got one - which was a blessing as it was the only part of the meal that wasn't very good. For me there was too much cinnamon and the pastry underneath was more like short crust - although this may be the way they cook them in Normandy. Having said that - it was still an excellent meal and I cannot recommend it enough.

Chose this restaurant because of it's high rating on Tripadvisor. Quality of food and choice good, with emphasis on seafood.Tables very small, especially those for two - constantly juggling items to accommodate everything on the table. Chairs also small and uncomfortable. Service a bit chaotic, with no particular waiter taking responsibility. Ordered a glass of wine twice from two different waiters, but it eventually turned up after I had almost finished my meal! Overall, not a relaxing or enjoyable experience.

excellent seafood - fish soup, seafood platter and stew were excellent. Lovely covered terrace on a side street in town. Just a couple of blocks from Le Grand hotel.
