L'Auberge Basque

This was our second visit in as many months, the first time was just myself and my husband, today we were taken by my parents. On our first visit the food was delicious and the atmosphere was really lovely and welcoming. Today we were welcomed warmly and were shown to a suitable table for us all including my father who is in a wheelchair. My parents had ordered the Paella (preorder only for a minimum of 4 persons). We started with the Sangria, then we had the Serrano jambon of which there was a very generous portion, then the Paella arrived... WOW! Absolutely amazing and so delicious and very obvious why there is a minimum person required for this dish. I have included a photo but even that doesn't do it justice. We had a little taster of fromage de brebis with a cerise confiture and the famous gateau basque for dessert.....all absolutely delicious. The service is excellent and Monsieur is clearly very proud of the food served and makes sure that you are enjoying your meal. I thoroughly recommend L.Auberge Basque!

Friendly welcome from the Basque owners and good service. We chose the menu of the day @ 15,50€ for 3 courses. We thought it would be good value but sadly it was too expensive for what it was. The food was home cooked but the quality wasn't very good, the fish tasted frozen and was served with diced veg in a sauce that had turned watery, it was served without any rice or potatoes. The 50cl carafe of wine was very good value at 3,50€. The dining room looked tired and was grubby in places. Very disappointed as they are friendly people and we really wanted to like this place.

This was the second time I've visited this traditional Basque restaurant and I can truthfully say that the wonderful food experienced the first time was no fluke. The food is clearly prepared with love and is packed with flavour. Everything we had was a delight to eat. Add to that very good service and pleasant surroundings and you can't ask for more. We ate from the daily menu costed at 9.50 euros for main courses and 3.50 euros each for starter and desert. We were too full completely to appreciate the desert. It's best to book to be sure of a table

I ate in this restaurant in Callac whilst on a break in Central Bretagne. From arriving to paying the bill the staff were amazing. They smiled, explained the menu to us and made a lovely fuss of our two children. The food was great and good value. Loads of fresh bread and good house wine. We'll definitely return on our next trip. Excellent.

A weekday lunch in a pleasant atmosphere with attentive service and enjoyable, hearty food at a very reasonable price. Will definitely visit again.
