L'amiral - Reservar uma mesa

Managed to get the nicest table in the restaurant (triangular) with great views over the lake. Went for the dish of the day and this comprised of a marinated prawn salad followed by a chicken suprême with olives (hate olives so gave to Mrs S) pasta and fresh vegetables. Dessert was chocolate brownie with Vanilla ice cream. I'll be honest, it was ok. So many of my friends have bigged this place up so I expected a lot. The salad was perfect, light and refreshing. The main course was ok, but the pasta was a bit dry as was the chicken. I don't know if this was because it was held up on the pass for too long. The dessert, well i might be wrong but a brownie should be slightly gooey. It wasn't. Again a bit dry. I suppose that if I really want to judge the restaurant, I should try a à la carte meal, so I'll do that next time.

Easy to locate either on the main road or by walking by the lake front. Great views from the outside tables. They let our dog sit under the table, but this is the first restaurant in a while which hasn't offered to bring the dog some water. The starter was large and easily shared between two people. They told us that they smoke their own salmon. I had the lamb, and whilst it was tender and fell off the bone, thee is no way that it could have been cooked from the order. It was also a little over done for me. Wine was good value and you'd usually pay twice that it a restaurant. It was nice to have tried it, as we were passing.

Ate there on a recommendation of a friend and we were disappointed. This restaurant has seen better days and the food was just barely average. The service, while prompt was a little smarmy and the decor, or lack of it, added nothing to the experience. The entrees were mediocre and the main courses were underwhelming. The setting of the place is great, right on the shores of Lac Leman, and I believe that we'd stop there for a drink on the terrace, but nothing more. If you are looking for a great, or even good meal, go somewhere else.

Great food, though menu a little limited. Excellent service and a lovely, quiet lakeside setting. We turned up on spec for an early evening meal and were accommodated immediately.
