Restaurant Laglers Wein.kost.bar

Lagler's is worth the walk up from town. It is a lovely, casual little wine bar with an outdoor terrace with views of the Wachau Valley. My husband found this online before we left, and drew up a map so we could find it. From town, walk west away from the river until you reach the WW1 & 2 memorial (and reflect for a moment on the the repetition of the family names on the memorial). From there, head up into the cobblestoned little "downtown" with the church and keep going up to the left, then to the right, and up through and past the gate....when you get to the "t", turn left and voila! The people are friendly (although at times hard to find) and very happy to offer you their wines by the glass or by the bottle (you can purchase to take home to the hotel which we did). There is a small terrace on which you can enjoy the wine; we tried two types of Gruner Veltliner, the most popular fresh & somewhat fruity white in Austira.

We were lucky to meet Mr. Lager in person who helped us to taste really special wines, he made a total change to the visit, since we started with some mediocre riesling and a glass of red. The place has modern desingn, so it is very different from the local "heuringen" family places. It is possible to buy wines by boxes after the tasting.

We stopped here with our guide for lunch. We were blessed with a beautiful fall day and sat outside with great views. We were served an excellent Gruner Vetliner and good Reisling with the best fresh breads I've ever tasted and an excellent variety of meats and local delicacies. Highly recommended.

Schönes gepflegtes 4 Sterne Hotel mit einen qualitativ ausserordentlich gutem Frühstücksbuffet. Hier wird nicht gespart mit der Produktqualität, hier werden nur Top Produkte den Gästen geboten. Ebenso im Heurigen. Sehr empfehlenswert!

In der Wein Kost Bar der Lgkers kann man die sehr guten Weine der Laglers verkosten und geniessen. Wichtig ist, dass dabei aber auch der Appetit mit feinen Gaumenfreuden gestillt wird.
