La Tolteca Mexican

We were all in the mood for Mexican food today. We ordered to go from La Tolteca on Rte. 50 in the Bury. Since this is my friends favorite Mexican restaurant and was her choice, she said she would pick it up. She said the restaurant was packed at lunch and the parking lot was full for a weekday. They have lots of lunch specials Mon.-Fri. from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. FYI you can get the lunch special price to go as well. I got the taco salad with chicken and my other 2 friends got the chicken and chorizo burrito. All the food was so good! The taco salad was super fresh, and the bowl was ultra- crispy and bubbly. My friends said the burritos were spicy and had just enough heat. I really enjoyed the fact they each one of us got a brown BAG of tortilla chips complimentary with each our entrees with salsa and that Mexican white sauce. The Mexican white sauce is a sauce that 's often served at some Mexican restaurants on the east coast. It 's made up of miracle whip, milk, and spices. The portions of food are humongous, and you will have leftovers. I ordered a side of guacamole, and it was so good I could have eaten it with a spoon.

I made a reservation here for 13 people upstairs. Coming in and getting seated was a breeze as they were already expecting us. Instead of our table having enough seating for 13 it was for 7. Since no hostess was available and no one ever greeted us or showed us to our seats we found another table and just pushed it over to connect along with the chairs. After 12 minutes of being seated we continued to see 3 waiters busily serving other guests however we were never greeted. I decided to go downstairs and speak with the manager who stated he would have someone take care of us only then we're we served. The drinks were great but the food was bland. My beef taco had the most taste as my Texas fajitas left much to be desired and the guacamole was extremely runny. Would yo back for the drinks but not the food. We were there to have a ladies night so each other's company and no husbands or kids made us happy along with alcohol.

We have been going here for years, because the food has always been good, and its a good value. Last week our server was Ryan, who did a great job. Over the years, there have been times when I felt we waited too long for the Check but in 2018 it's never happened. I usually like to order something from the Seafood part of the Menu and it always tastes very fresh and well made. I love their large draft Mexican beer, but on Tuesday the Lime Margarita special is my favorite. The free chips are always fresh and home made, which is another reason I plan on coming back for years to come.

Great spot! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The staff is super nice. Was happy to see a list of vegetarian options but it wasn't much compared to the rest of the menu. The margaritas are a hit (you're definitely going to get more than 1 ! The one thing I will definitely be coming back for is the chips, salsa, and the white sauce... I don't know what the white sauce is consisted off, but it is so good, a second round was needed! Will be back again :

So this place looks promising, probably more than what it is, the inside is spacious and staff is nice and rather quick I must say, but the food is more tex mex than Mexican, if you are like me and look for tacos in a Mexican restaurant don't come here because they don't have all of them, just ground beef and chicken, it reminded me of a boujee taco bell more than anything, the fajitas tasted ok
