La Sauvette - Reservar uma mesa

La Sauvette is a bar and restaurant in the old quarter of La Charité between the monastery and the river Loire. The menu is not long or complicated, but the food is tasty, comes in hearty portions, and is reasonably priced. Also a good if short wine list. Eating outside in the summer with a view of both the river and the monastic buildings was truly special. The whole was rounded off with good service under pressure - one waitress to cover a dozen tables - and a genuinely warm au revoir. A place that holiday memories are made of.

A good way to spend 2 hours on french mothers day. Basic menu at reasonable price, waitress with radar to cope with a variety of outdoor and indoor tables and get it right each time, good local wine and a pleasant location on a sunny late May afternoon. No pretensions and one of the better meals we had during our two week visit to the area.

This is always the first night stop when we arrive in town looking for a reasonably priced quick dinner. The atmosphere is medieval charming. The hosts are fun and the clientele gives you a feel for this quaint medieval village. Outdoor lunch in the shade of the ancient church is fun as well.

This was the only restaurant open Sunday night so we didn't have much choice but to go there. After the negative reviews we didn't expect much. To our surprise the service was prompt and friendly. The salmon was delicious and the price reasonable.

We dined in the basement of this restaurant which is in front of the lovely church entrance. The food wasn't great the chips were very greasy and the service was a bit flustered and erratic.
