La Girandole - Reservar uma mesa

I stumbled into this place because it was right beside the airbnb where I was staying, and after a long day of travel was desperately in need of a glass of wine. Lucky me! I cannot say enough about La Giradole. First, the staff. Everyone, from Patrick, the chef and owner, and all his staff, were just wonderful. Even when crazy busy, everyone was attentive, friendly and helpful. Second, the food. Possibly the best pizza I've ever had. The pasta was amazing, and I rarely say that of anyone's pasta except quite frankly, my own. I also had steak frites one night, which was also excellent. The atmosphere was comfortable and familiar, a pleasant contrast to the touristy nature of the restaurants facing the port. As this review suggests, my wife and I ended up eating here a lot while in Cassis. That is because most meals we had elsewhere were surprisingly mediocre and overpriced. La Girandole stood in sharp contrast to that experience. Reasonably priced and delicious, we cannot wait to go back and see Patrick, Vanille, and the rest of the staff that make this place a truly special find.

We stayed in Cassis for five nights, and tried a different restaurant every night. Of the restaurants we tried, all were ok, but overpriced, particularly on the waterfront - and I am used to expensive mediocre restaurants since I live in France next to a ski resort! This was a refreshing find! The food was good, not fantastic, but definitely not overpriced. The house wine was a bit rough, but then it wasn't expensive - but I am a bit fussy here, since I used to work in the wine trade in the UK. Overall we had an enjoyable meal at a reasonable price in which is hard to find in touristy places like this! We actually tried to go a second time, but being out of season (we went in October), it was closed! Definitely worth a visit!

The menu consists of pizza, pasta, fajitas and a small number of other dishes (not much to choose from if you do not care for pizza or pasta.) It is very simple and relatively cheap, but surprisingly good quality. A minus for the "wine list" (limited choices and poor quality) and lack of sugar free soft drinks.

Cassis is a wonderful place to visit, but some of the restaurant are touristy cashing in on the popularity of this town, serving up mediocre food at over inflated prices. La Girandole bucked the trend, delicious food, decent wine and a very fair price. It was so good, we went twice. Worth booking ahead!

Great pizzas and really good value for money compared to the restaurants along the harbour front. The chilli olive oil, really compliments the pizza if you like your food with a kick. Owner and staff were very friendly...a must visit if your in Cassis and pizzas are your thing.
