I would really like to give this restaurant 4.5 stars if I could. It is very much a fine dining restaurant and we went for the longer version of the tasting menu, and when aperitif, wine and a dessert wine are all additionally totted up, it was obviously on the more expensive side and so you want to feel like it is a special experience. The staff did absolutely everything they could to make it feel special and in particular catered without fuss for a dietary requirement I 'd mentioned on the booking which did involve them making a few bespoke changes. Everyone was very friendly and professional and the decor and general feel of it is pleasantly relaxed. The restaurants thing is the amuse bouche hence the name. There were many of these plus an appetiser and later petit fours which were complimentary with a 6 course tasting menu this rather extended matters. The food was really very good, but my own view is that some of the dishes were verging on this is a cool thing we can do with a freezer/cooker rather than really enhancing the taste. It was even by fine dining standards a bit fussy, and it took too long to get to some really show stopping mains I understand its a tasting menu and we choose to have 6 courses! But the run up to course 1 was a bit over extended and getting to a very slightly expanded and delicious piece of fish or duck a little faster would have been good, although extremely subjective. The wine list was as you might expect heavily bordeaux focused and went in high but we found plenty to like in it. It was a really lovely night due to some superb bits of cooking and very nice staff but it somehow didn 't quite all come together for us as a 5 star experience for the price.
