We were on our way to Uzes where we had intended to have lunch, having visited the Pont du Gard, and as we passed this restaurant we thought we would stop there instead as it looked so pleasant. And pleasant it certainly was - a typical Provencal meal, in a shady courtyard outside an ancient building. The food was delicious; the best of Provencal home cooking, and the service was excellent. And it was very reasonably priced. If you are thinking of visiting the beautiful old town of Uzes, stop here for lunch first - you won't regret it.

The walled courtyard, with shade provided by overhanging trees is a lovely place to be, and the staff were friendly and helpful, also speaking good English.Food here is very reasonably priced, but lacks the care, attention and special flavour expected of a meal from this reason. The "medium" lamb cutlets were almost cremated, and the fries could have come from Mcdonald's. The Salmon was described as good, but not special, and the same applied to the desserts.A superb venue, let down by a mediocre chef.

The setting at La Begude is wonderful. Eating outside in the pleasantly shaded courtyard is one of the real pleasures of holidays in France. I agree with some of the other reviews about the food; it isn't haute cuisine but at £15 for a 3 course meal they aren't pretending. It's decent tasty "home cooked" fare. The service we experienced (3 occasions) was very friendly and particularly helpful.

We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant after an afternoon swimming near the Pont Du Gard. It is family owned and just couldn't be more delightful. The food was fantastic. They make their own wine which was excellent and sitting outside under the trees was magical. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant and setting. One of the highlights of our trip!
