L'Arena is my absolute favourite cafe in Heiligenstadt and yes, actually in the whole area! BRAVISSIMO! The ice cream is delicous and the cappuccinos are GREAT. I like the cappuccino with a lot of froth you can order separately. When I enter the cafe the staff know already what I want and ask me the same as usual, and I reply back to them, yes, the same as always. This means for me Cappuccino mit viel Schaum, Cappuccino with a lot of froth!! Absolutely delicious. The copffee in the cappuccino is as strong as it is in Italy and not just ordinary coffee with froth. I love it and sometimes order two cappuccinos. The Cafe Latte Macciato is very good as well. In l'Arena you have changing exhibitions (paintings and photography) on a regular basis. The music in he background is often Italian Eros Ramazotti and many others maybe music from the internet now but I do not know. The furniture interior is very nicely decorated. Ah, you can buy a few Italian products, too such as oils and wines and books about Tuscany and Florence. The cafe unfortunately is not always packed but it would be in other cities!! It is always fully packed when you have an event or on a day like Easter, Whitsun. Heiligenstadt not always have the sort of people audience or the people do not go out as much I think.

I think this has to have been some of the worst ice cream I have ever had. And they actually had the gaul to charge 1EUR per scoop. Unbelievable! Avoid!
