Kizuna Sushi Bistro

This used to be my hands-down favorite food spot in the Chicagoland area. They 've made a lot of changes over the past year or so, some better than others. The updated decor is nice, with some cute photo ops, but not necessarily better or worse than what it looked previously. The most notable (and worse difference is the change in staff. The servers were incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and some of the friendliest humans I 've ever met. The new crew is clueless and lackadaisical. Tonight when I stopped in to place a to-go, I had to repeat my order multiple times because the server did not know how to use the computer (no problem, new system, I get it.. . They asked me multiple times, for each item, if I wanted rice (for items that should 've included rice already . I said yes . No rice was provided.. If this were a one-off, it 'd be one thing but this has become the new normal here. Very unfortunate. Thankfully the quality and taste of the food was outstanding, however even this has fluctuated (dipped in recent times. *sigh* I miss the old Kizuna.

My husband and I were traveling internationally for the last month and didn't have access to good sushi we came back with a strong craving and wanted to try somewhere new, so we wandered into kizuna. We got four rolls and loved them all we got the dragon roll, the mafia roll, and the spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls. The mafia was probably my favorite it's made with black rice which not many sushi places have so I'd def recommend giving that a shot if you haven't tried it! The place itself is cute and cozy, the staff is friendly, and we got seated super quickly although we went at an off peak time.

I've been here a couple times. First time the food was excellent. Second time the food was like meh. I took the average so it's about a 3. Service both times were poor and very slow. It wasn't busy during both times I went (dinner time). Prices are expensive for the lack of consistent quality. Hard to find a decent sushi place in the area, you're better off taking a trip to Arlington Heights Miso soup 3.5/5 Caterpillar roll 3/5 Garlic salmon 5/5 Black monster 4/5 Exotic bomba 5/5 Nigiri 4/5 Ocean vinaigrette 3/5 River beast 3/5 Dragon roll 3/5

The BEST sushi we have found close to us! Staff is wonderful too! After they remodeled it is more roomier, we love the Tequila, Medusa, Picasso, black monster and pretty much everything we have tried.
