We wanted to visit a nice beachside restaurant for my son's 21st birthday. Unfortunately, the whole experience here was poor. When we got to the front of the queue to get inside, we were told that we had to read the menu before they would let us in. The menu was not at the entrance so we dropped back and lost our place to do as we were told. The menu looked expensive considering the informal setting (it's a beach bar) but it was a celebration and we were happy to pay extra so we rejoined the queue. When we reached the front for the second time, we were quizzed AGAIN about whether we understood the menu. I think that the implication was that we may not be able to afford it, which was insulting. We were also told that we had a maximum of 90 minutes on the table. We were then taken to the very back of the restaurant which had no view, despite there being tables available in the main area. Service at the table was ok but left an overall feeling of us being unwanted. The low point was when our paella arrived and the manager and staff members ran over and took a selfie with our food and then left without saying anything. Perhaps they were celebrating the fact that people had actually paid around 170 EUROs for a below average paella? (Somebody needs to retrain the chef on preparing fish properly, the dish was absolutely full of bones). The restrictions on the menu are ridiculous (you can't order a single portion of anything unless it costs over 50 euros, basically). Inexplicably pretentious and expensive for what it is. Couldn't wait to leave.
