So, my girlfriend and i have just been here on the recommendation of an old friend. The food we ate was excellent! 5/5. The reason for my bad review is the toilets and speed of service. Firstly our starter took 40+mins to arrive on a QUIET evening. After an hour of finishing those, our mains still hadn 't arrived, but no doubt would have been delicious too. Would have been?? Well the toilets were sooo disgusting that they couldnt be sat on, and USED feminine products floating in the bowl and left on the shelves. Also a lack of toilet paper. My girlfriend politely and discreetly alerted the waitress to the problem, yet 15mins later, only thing that changed was there was now toilet paper. Couldnt be bothered to flush the bowl, clean the seat, etc.....We decided to not have our main in the end due to poor standards. What was offered to us my the head waitress were excuses, rolling eyes and disbelief that we didnt want our food, which was finally ready. Completely unapologetic, moody and demanded the chef/owner deal with us. He was apologetic, removed the mains from our bill, etc. Said there was zero excuse for the toilets. We still tipped because the initial service was very good, but the basic hygiene needs to be addressed. So, food 5/5, service 2/5 because of the waitresses ending attitude, toilets 1/5. Oh, and we own and run a pub, so we know how important toilet cleanliness is!
Just around the corner from the heart of the diamond shopping street, I found this gem of an Italian restaurant. Charming host/owner and wife; who have live here in Antwerp; in New York and in Israel. Multilingual and truly a family business. i asked for a recommendation; and had the (beef) Lasanga. Baked and tasty. With a nice glass of House Merlot the Bill was about 18 Euro; not bad at all by European standards. I'm rarely in Antwerp but would return.
Came here with friends whilst at the Euro Hockey Federation Youth Conference 2019 and we had difficulty with food elsewhere. The owners were very welcoming and they welcomed us in and catered for our food needs. Lovely pizza and other delicacies and I would highly recommend coming again!
