We decided to look outside Triana for something off the tourist routes. About 3 blocks north of Triana you are now in an area for locals. There are several small bars in the area, on a Friday night they were all full. We entered Bar Imperial and all the tables were empty. We asked for a table for two and were told all tables were reserved. With a couple of drinks in hand we waited to see if any room opened up at the not too big bar. After about 10 minutes we squeezed into a couple of seats. Almost immediately the local wanted to know where we were from. It was great. Another spot further down the bar opened up so we moved Dow as it was a bit warmer. No heat anywhere here in the winter, front door and windows all open so for us it was cool. Again we were assailed by the locals asking about us. The owner was starting to show guests their tables so we decided to order quickly. I had leg of lamb and my wife had the pork belly/ribs. We started with a warm local cheese salad. This is so far the best food we’ve had in Las Palmas. What’s amazing is how good the wine selections were. These guys know how to cook, we ended up taking half the food and wine away as we could eat it all. Pic-nic mañana. Apparently this place is booked solid almost every night m, so do yourselves a favor and go the day before for a reservation. You will not be disappointed.
