Im Rittergut Birkhof

Three of us came here on a Saturday evening (6:30 pm) and had a very enjoyable evening. The restaurant is located next to a Golf course and what looks like a garden centre with easy parking and about 20 minutes drive from Monchengladbach. We had...reserved a table, but the restaurant was not full, although we did eat rather early. We were served some lovely fresh bread with two pots of cream cheese/chives and fish pate as appetisers.We all had asparagus soup, which was devine, although the German habit of not having proper soup spoons made it difficult to scoop the last drops out of the bowl. I had the beef stroganoff, which was excellent and served with rice and a small side salad. My wife had the rump steak which was perfectly cooked, although the baked potato was smothered in cream. Her vegetables of the day were perfectly cooked. Our guest had the Wiener Schnitzel (veal) which also went down a treat. The desserts were also very nice, with the strawberry plate (ice-cream, cream, strawberries and parfait) simple yet absolutely delicious. Service was prompt and friendly and we had a really terrific time. At no time was there any pressure to hurry up and the final bill was a reasonable €113. Gluten sensitivity is also catered for, with soups made without flour and most meals gluten-free.

This restaurant and golf resort are worth the ride for an excellent meal in a very nice stylish environment. The place has excellent selection of traditional German meals. There is plenty of space for big meetings and family celebrations. The food is not cheap, but... high quality and therefore high quality. We come here every year when we make vacations in Neuss and Germany.

The food is good and the wines are good. We had a big party and everyone went well. Good service and with a beautiful smile. The whole area is good for golf and afternoon tea, as well as for dinner or big parties.

Sitting on the terrace, enjoy sunset, cool wine with good what else you want! Fresh local season food, good selection in menus, fine selection of wine and great local dark beer. Yummy!

We visited a family party. Service and food good. Plenty of parking in the courtyard and at the golf club. Would come back.
