Humble Pie 'n' Mash

Forget fish and chips this is where you need to be. First of all, the food was stunning, absolutely beautiful and so obviously homemade and fresh. I had the mince beef and onion with mash and mushy peas and I have never tasted a pie like it. It's a whole pie, not mince in a dish with a pie lid and the pastry is unreal, light and crisp and baked to perfection, the filling was divine! Rich and thick tasty gravy, good quality mince and best of all the pie itself was filled full not like some other pies I've had. The peas and mash were perfect as well. But! The food aside....my partner and I visited with our very nervous rescue dog and we knew dogs were welcome but the lady that served us went out of her way to make sure we could sit upstairs so as our nervous little dog would be able to settle and therefore we were able to enjoy our beautiful meal fully relaxed. To me this was one of the biggest acts of kindness we have ever had done for us. The whole experience from the food down to the service and kindness was fantastic. Sadly we live in Nottingham otherwise we would be here all the time! Next visit to Whitby we will definitely be returning.

A very quaint place like were time has stood still,We both had the steak n kidney pie mash and peas with pot of tea.It was served in metal bowl,there are lots of memrobilia back to the war years which we enjoyed very much.Are meal was very enjoyable the pie had so much meat in it.We were so full we had no room left for our dessert of jam roly poly and custard which I regret now!!This place is well worth a visit when you visit Whitby.
