Hostellerie Du Chateau

Visited Châteauneuf-en-Auxois for the weekend faire and enjoyed a crowded yet well mannered crowd. Decided to eat at Hostellerie du Chateau and unfortunately they were not prepared for the crowds and the service suffered. The food however was excellent and decent value. The lamb and steak were very good and the children's menu was value for money.

We ordered the pate (appetizer) and lamb steak (main course) from the half-board menu. The lamb steak was grilled to perfection in an open fireplace near the dining room. A basket of at least a dozen kinds of Dijon mustard accompanied the grilled meat. Heavenly!!

A lovely lunch in a very pretty courtyard. The menu had a wide selection of small and large meals available. My smoked salmon with salad was delicious, and the perfect light lunch (accompanied by a chilled glass of white wine)

We had lunch here last year on their pleasant patio and returned this year for dinner in the dining room. Both were thoroughly enjoyable. Very nice atmosphere with good food at reasonable prices and gracious service.

Lunch after visiting the chateau. Excellent Menu de Jour at Euros 15.50. Food very good for price and friendly service. Great location in fortified village next to the chateau.
