Histoire Sans Faim

Truly terrible service! Very rude female owner of the restaurant who took offense when my husband Simply dared to ask if his tuna steak should have come with potatoes. She turned to another table and said ‘Mon Dieu’! probably thinking we would not understand French. We have owned a second home in this village for twelve years and thought her mistake was actually hilarious. The lovely, polite Frenchman on the table next to us apologied on behalf of his country and said she wasn’t local. Felt so sorry for him! Needless to say, we weren’t offered our customary ‘Limincello on the House’ this evening...! Will never return again.

We managed to get squeezed in last minute and were very glad of it. Whilst the tables are roadside (initially this put us off) it actually added an ambience to dinner and we really felt part of the town. I had Frois Gras for entrée which was locally produced and of the highest quality. It was served with a home made chutney and delicious sel de mer. Plat principle was John Dory fillet over ratatouille with fries superb! The cafe gormande was very good as well. Highly recommend!

We had dinner here in the week before Christmas and were the only customers all evening. Having said that Histoire sans Faim is a cosy little restaurant, with good service and good food and all at a relatively reasonable price for the area. I would go as far as to say that it offers better value for money than some more expensive establishments locally. We would definitely go back.

Found this place by chance. The owner was so friendly and helpful, the food was very good even if it had to be carried across the road to the table dodging the traffic!
