Thanks to the Gilde Guide (a small Swiss gourmet guide) I enjoyed a relaxed and tasty dinner at Hirschen. Easy access by public transportation - a mere 5-minute-walk from Bütschwil train station, and directly across the church. The dining room is warm and traditional. Thumbs-up for the friendly welcome and attentive service. The menu is Swiss traditional, with focus on seasonal and regional produce. As starter I had a smoked trout filet with mango-avocado salad - light and tasty. As main course I chose one of the seasonal suggestions: green and white asparagus, with pike perch. Delicious and very generous portion: the fish was perfectly cooked "à la meunière". I ended my dinner with a classic dark and white chocolate mousse dessert. A special mention to the Italian Chardonnay, which was excellent. In high-price Switzerland the bill remained enjoyably moderate, in particular for dinner time: CHF80 for the whole meal.
