Grotto del Tiglio

by chance we have read about the autumn review in the mendrisiotto. We first went to this restaurant/grotto, rustic type trattoria. welcomed very well by the owners husband and wife, really nice people. We have taken some excellent ravioli filled with game and 2 menus of game; deer fillet as contours, spätzli, red cabbage, frosted chestnuts bruxelles sprouts, apples with currant jam, all really great and abundant. The owner asked us if we wanted to do the bis, but there was nothing left. free water jug which was brought without complaint to our request. we recommend it, especially for the kindness of the owners that these days.

I've been seeing this grotto for years and after consolidating my opinion. I'll write. the room appears modestly furnished, but it is the courtesy of the manager and his wife (always available to out-of-paper and greeting requests) to characterize it. Fried fish are a must. small, dry frying without residue. even chips are a specialty. have offers of the typical home kitchen: cod on request, steamed vegetables, Venetian liver and meat in the grill. Also to try during the week, when you want to spoil yourself without exaggerating.

we were for a night in como and have eaten here too night. the pasta was very tasty, the portions sufficiently large. the staff was very friendly, there was also a day card with arranged to choose. the restaurant also offers a very large selection of pizzas. what was served on the side tables also looked very delicious. here many local eaten - due to its location you will not find the restaurant otherwise by coincidence. for guests of the neighboring hotel del tiglio there is 10% discount.

a typical Ticino grotto, eat outside on the terrace from just that sense of Ticino grotto even if close to the road. Eating is great and the correct prices for a grotto. we are glad to go, especially for the friendliness of the owner, who always knows how to entertain his guests!

The service is particularly fast, the kitchen is of excellent quality, the meat and paella are perfectly cooked. the terrace is very large and very pleasant in the evening (after 7pm) only the noise of the cantonal road below prevents the place from being quiet.
