It's so hard to find a nice place in Zurich that doesn't require a reservation, or to wait in a queue for an hour. Grain is a few minutes up the hill from the city centre on the tram, right next to the Kirche...Fluntern stop. My wife and I stopped in for an excellent Sunday brunch after visiting the zoo, and ended up staying to try the dinner menu! The food is excellent, and there's rotating guest beers on tap, in addition to a wide range of craft beers in bottles and cans from around the world. Grain is a hidden gem with a spacious restaurant, lovely outdoor terrace, and plenty of space. There's even a bowling alley in the cellar! Top tip: ask for Dave's homemade habenero sauce with the breakfast burrito! It's genuinely delicious and spicy and, if you like hot sauce, will elevate anything off the menu to the next level!
Grain is one of my favorite places to spend a Saturday night or Sunday afternoon. The food is all fantastic the most authentic American-style brunch, delicious grill specials and (when the season is right) the best place to find fresh oysters in Switzerland. The...staff is all super friendly and helpful especially with respect to the extensive beer selection. The location is easy to get to from the city center and when the weather is good the patio is a lovely place to spend some time. Family favorites are the chicken and waffles, oyster **** Mary shots, and whatever the owner, Dave, has put on his smoker that afternoon.
time coming to Grain and it was a treat, once again. of us came for brunch and greatly enjoyed the food. Perfect sizes and go well with the beers. Tried to the milkshake beer after lunch (suggestion from the owner) and was glad...I did. The service was incredibly friendly and they easily spoke German and English (which is always a help
I’ve been visiting Grain since I discovered it just about two years ago. A wonderful range or Swiss and international craft beer (some brewed on the premises), brilliant Sunday brunch and the friendliest, most professional staff I’ve come across since moving here. I live away and still consider it “my local”!
