Gasthof Hirschen

A pretty, elegant restaurant with an outdoor patio out front and a hotel joined. Excellent service from our server. Her English was limited but would could still understand what the dishes were and how they were prepared. My husband had an excellent medium rare fillet with fresh local green and white asparagus, with a delicious mustard dressing salad to start. I had the large smoked salmon salad with mixed greens and green local asparagus. Very generous portions, and food came very hot, on warm plates. The local Swiss white wine was cold and delicious. Yes, a little expensive, but this is Switzerland, and food quality and costs run higher than a lot of other countries.

Upon entering the restaurant it smells like cigarettes which isn’t appetizing. The service here could be better. The menu is only available in German. The menu is boring, although they have vegetarian options it leaves something to be desired. I had the casarecce vegetarian pasta which was good. My relatives had the calf schnitzel which were dry and lacking flavor. My aunt had the Rosti with calf which was also lacking flavor. Overall this restaurant is alright. If you’re in the area, hungry and it’s the only restaurant open then eat here; otherwise order a pizza.

We went on my birthday as I'd requested it specifically for cordon bleu. Really nice outside seating area at the back where it was cool away from the traffic. It was a hot day! The service left nothing to be desired, very friendly, efficient not at all intrusive. The food was also excellent I would highly recommend it. There was also no rush to get rid of us as you get in some restaurants, we felt welcome at the start of our visit still welcome at the end even though we stayed a bit longer after paying the bill. All in all top marks for everything.

There are not that many restaurants in Regensdorf, so if you take a walk to the centre of the village you automatically reach this Gasthof. I had dinner outside, as the weather was nice. Good service, I took a pasta. It tasted very good. Worth a visit!

Good place all year long, including charming bar, including cigar smoking lounge. Good food and wines. Fondue in Winter in charming cellar. Hotel for those who do not want to drive after dinner.
