I went to Frelard for the first time in August of 2023. It was suggested on a gluten-free app I bought for those of us who have Celiac. If you don't wish to read this whole post, please read the most important at the end.We bought over $100.00 in food because I wanted some for the freezer for later. We ate in the car; the pork tamales had a lot more meat and flavor than the *chicken. Normally, I prefer chicken, but this tasted like it had no seasoning at all, I wasn't even sure there was chicken in it at all! It was underwhelming, but the pork was delish! If you set food on your lap to eat as I did, know the container is paper and will leak and soak into your clothing. Put something waterproof on your lap first. My bad.*The tamales we had frozen for later were too salty. I think the lack of flavor in the chicken we had in the car may have been put in the ones we took home. Mixed with our own beans balanced out the flavors, and it was very good! The beans and rice that came with our meal were sooo good! I don't know how they did it, but they didn't produce flatulence later either!I also ordered watermelon juice, which was reeely nice on a hot day, but the container they put the large drink in was a teeely Large, it was a soup container and I had no place to put it while I ate.I don't know if they ran out of tall cups or what, but it's an interesting choice for a drink. It was difficult to take the lid off, and I worried it would spill.Ask to see the container sizes before ordering. There is no indoor or outdoor seating, but this is a popular place because the food is good!Parking was a challenge, I am a wheelchair user. The streets are steep, and there is little parking. But if you wait near the parking in front of the restaurant, it is more level and people don't stay there long.I recommend you brush up on your Spanish too because no one spoke English. All in all, I did like the food. Even with the inconveniences of lap oil, salt, and awkward drink cups, we had a fun and mostly tasty meal, and I will go there again. Another reason I will support this place is because they will feed anyone who is hungry, no questions asked. No one would ever go hungry if all restaurants did this.Dietary restrictions: If you love simple, authentic Mexican food and have Celiac, this place is great. You will not be disappointed. Even the beans didn't hurt!Parking: If you can walk easily, there is parking scattered throughout the area. Don't expect to find parking close by. I request that if you are able-bodied, save the front parking for people who need wheelchairs and struggle to walk.Wheelchair accessibility: As an abulitory, but also a manual wheelchair user, parking, walking hills, and standing in a line with 5 others before me was a challenge. I don't recommend going to Frelard alone. I don't think I could have managed it by myself.

Love this location. First time and i was blown away with the tamale texture, flavors and size. Very well worth the 6+ dollars per.Good example of paying for good quality tamales. Love the fact that they have vegan options. Tamales have a generous portion of protein and or vegetables. Masa has lots of flavor without overpowering the filling.Definitely brought me home. I am very particular about mexican food and I really enjoyed these. Most tamale shops will sell you an equivalent Tamal that are referenced as “mazudos” which means more corn masa than filling. These are equally distributed. If you want good tamales without going to my tia’s or grandma’s house or those of you who are lucky and have a partner who makes them delish (I am one of those lucky ones) then this is one of the best places to get some, pan fry them the next day or thaw them as a dessert in the case of the sweet corn or raisin tamal.Airfried, microwaved or pan fried afterwards are are other ways you can enjoy them. I personally prefer pan fried with some chorizo or refried beans on the side.Crafty labeling with color strings to identify the type. Pretty creative!!Would love to have them open up a seating area but there is none. Drinks are good. Especially the horchata. Salsa is a tomatillo base so normally tangy by design. Would love a red chile salsa to go with these.Definitely a grab an go place. There is a park near by so you could always go to green lake and enjoy a hot tamal.Keep up the good work Frelard!!Vegetarian options: Equal amounts of vegan options and equally delightful!

The food itself is great, as good as tamales can be. Vegetarian and vegan options are much appreciated. But they make you line up behind 5 or 6 six customers looking to buy meals, to buy one extra hot salsa....in the middle of your meal!! Its like asking someone to line up for 15 mins for ketchup. The person was not nice to me either, even though I was not mean or rude to them. Ruined my experience with their attitude. May not go back for a while, all they had to do was be nice(r) about asking me to line up for an extra side of salsa.

Probably the best tamales I’ve had in my life. The price of 6.50$ is one you can’t beat and they come HEFTY. They were hot and moist and not dry unlike some tamales I’ve had previously. If you need a quick bite and are in the area, definitely consider coming here. I sure know I’m coming back for more
