Excelsior Fisheries

We called in here as I had wanted fish n chips all of our weeks holiday travelling around Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Scarborough. I am so glad I waited. We walked down to Staithes and although it was very picturesque the fish ‘n chips were better. I needed the loo and although there were no toilets ther, they let me use the staff loo which I was very grateful for. We ordered to eat in and had Fish, Chips, peas and gravy. We were just saying how delicious they were when a lovely lady came and asked if she could take our food away!! I was horrified as it was delicious!! I asked why ? The lady said she thought the gravy wasn’t to their standard. Let me tell you, I don’t think it could of been any more tastier. Top marks to the their friendly approach and definitely TOP MARKS to their food. I would go back to Staithes just for another Fish ‘n Chip tea from the EXCELSIOR. well deserved

Great local chippy! This place was a lifesaver on a recent stay in Staithes no room for dinner at the place we were staying and no room anywhere else. We walked up to the Excelsior in the rain and were delighted to find they have tables and chairs inside result! Scampi and chips all round fantastic, hot and tasty and at half the priced being charged elsewhere. Really lovely staff too. Made three tired and hungry middle aged ladies very happy!

My partner and i popped in here as we were craving proper fish and chips. I am so glad we did, the fish was moist and flaky and fresh, the batter is next level. The provenance of the ingredients are written on a board so you know where the fish is from. To top it off, cooked in beef dripping. Superb!

small wait due to frying to order, but an excellent product. very good value for money, very clean and tidy establishment, friendly staff. a credit to you
