El Rancho Grande

I found El Rancho online and I am so happy that I did. I stopped by for a late lunch at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon, so the restaurant was not too busy. I began with their house margarita (plain, not flavored), which was excellent and with just the right amount of tequila. Their chips and salsa are homemade and the salsa has a rich deep smoky flavor, with just a touch of heat. The small guacamole was also fresh and creamy. I ordered the chicken mole entrée ($12), which was served with yellow rice, refried beans and tortillas. The mole sauce was complex and one of the best I have ever had. I would have preferred it just a tad bit less sweet, however. In the middle of my meal, Chef Maria said hello to me, asked how everything was – Excellent, I replied - and then she promptly poured a free shot of tequila for the two of us sitting at the bar, as well as for herself. What a lovely gesture! Service was excellent and friendly. My meal totaled $32 before tip, including two margaritas for $14. I want to come back and try everything else on their menu.

Comecei com a casa Margarita (simples, não aromatizada), que foi excelente e com a quantidade certa de tequila. Seus chips e salsa são caseiros e a salsa tem um rico sabor defumado, com apenas um toque de calor. O pequeno guacamole também foi fresco e cremoso. Eu pedi o Entrée da Mole de Frango (US $ 12), que foi servido com arroz amarelo, feijão refrigiado e tortillas. O molho mole era complexo e um dos melhores que já tive. Eu teria preferido apenas um pouco menos doce, no entanto. No meio da minha refeição, o Chef Maria disse Olá para mim, perguntou como tudo era - excelente, eu respondi - e então ela prontamente derramou um tiro livre de tequila para os dois de nós sentados no bar, assim como para si mesma. Que lindo gesto! O serviço foi excelente e amigável. Minha refeição totalizou US $ 32 antes da dica, incluindo duas margaritas por US $ 14. Eu quero voltar e tentar tudo o mais no menu.

I liked the ambiance here - cozy yet casualMy friend and I were promptly seated as we got there at 6 for an early dinner.
