We were looking for a good value lunch. Preferably not from a tourist menu made up of photographs! Because we liked what was on offer on the 10.80€ set menu, we chose from it and were not disappointed. We had gazpacho a good bowlful land full of flavour; mixed paella, which took a while to arrive, but only because it was a genuine home cooked one with a good mix of ingredients and well flavoured rice; crème caramel, which was really good, and home made, too, we guessed. We also had, sparkling water, a glass of house red (a bit rough, perhaps, but a very generous glass! , a sangria and decent coffees. Total lunch for two for 32.80€. The all male front of house staff were friendly and efficient. It was fairly obvious that two of the young waiters were beginners – but that’s not a negative. The communication between all the staff and between staff and customers was friendly, welcoming and reassuring. Language doesn’t seem a problem at El Raco: Catalan, Spanish, French and English were all being spoken. A nice atmosphere. The only slight disappointment: the sangria wasn’t really home made and it lacked that kick that can make it special. But then, it was only 3€ and at least it didn’t put my wife to sleep!
