Our starters didn't come out together and half the party had finished before the others came out. The cauliflower cheese croquettes were tasteless, chicken stripe were the same as Iceland..the service was incredibly slow and our mains took another hour to come out. We were the only table in the conservatory area, and we felt forgotten. We asked for background music as it was silent and no atmosphere (we had to ask 3 times) mains very average but my steak was grisly and overdone. The new potatoes were like rubber and hard in places like they were from day before. Chicken, ham and mustard pie was dry and had no flavour, especially mustard flavour. We then had the joy of the (boring) quiz coming through the restaurant speakers from the bar. The coffee was too strong for some of us and the latte's were only warm. I'd advise anyone to register their registration number at the bar, as the 3 hours free parking is not long enough for a 2 course meal with coffee... We arrived at 6pm and left about 9.30pm. We had hoped to do the quiz after our food, so the fact the service was so bad, saved us from the quiz master who had the voice of Jack Dee but not the humour..... Been here before 3 times, but sadly will not return. In response to GM reply: we mentioned some of our complaints when we paid, but they didn't seem bothered or concerned, apologies and offer to talk after the day are too late and irrelevant

Well I was disappointed!! I went for the signature fish and chips. More expensive than the normal fish and chips at nearly £15. The menu said it includes Whitby scampi and a choice of bloomer bread and butter. Well I assume that the scampi decided to swim off as no sign of them whatsoever. The bread was possibly a bit stale? The fish didn't look great. The chips were nice. In fairness we were asked if all was okay just as the food was served and also asked if any sauces were required? When we entered the pub it did look nice and plenty of tables to chose from. We weren't informed about the parking requirements and entering the car reg. The staff didn't seem to be that bothered and were discussing personal issues behind the bar. Unfortunately this was the pub of choice as the initial ones had stopped serving food. In the current climate and situations we do feel for any hostelry and the hardships encountered but this place needs to make more effort as it could be good.

I visited your pub a few months back. It was two of us and we ordered a couple of drinks and some snacks from the bar. I ordered a pint of ale for myself. As I got to the table, after a few minutes it remained cloudy. I tried it and it was flat and tasteless. I went to the bar and explained to the staff about this situation. In the end I had to buy a new pint of lager. It's not exactly the best experience.

Just stopped for a lunch and i went for classic hunter's chicken and it was amazing long time didint had such a good classic pub meal for long time only one minus that the portion of chips and onion ring could be a bit bigger but apart that the foor is amazing and atmosphere is really warm. Highly recommended if you passing through :

Really delishious and lovely service from the bar tender. We came in 20 minutes before the kitchen shut and had a pie each it was yummy. I am a veggie so had the mushroom pie and my hubby eats meat so he had the chicken. We will be back thank you
