Club Del Cep

Located in an unattractive surrounding but the Club de Cep is unusual in all fronts! Going back to centuries ago, the unassuming straight walls have come to life with not only original drawings and publicity material of the past two centuries (mainly Cuban motives) but also an added difference of side by side presentations of a mix collections of Spanish and foreign wines. I must say the way it is done is attractive and cozy. The food court of the Club can not be called a restaurant since it has only a few tables for clients who rather enjoy sipping various wines offered and recommended by the owner but if interested a daily simple menu of home-made cooking with fresh ingredients is also offered. I must say, choices are extremely limited which means either you like what the owner offers or not,...but for each mezze you are encouraged to taste a different wine (some costly). If animated the owner and his wife are willing to explain every item on the menu and tease your appetite for higher and higher grade of wines and grapes. What I really found a real treat , however, was the fried artichokes .They were crunchy and delicious. The eggplant was OK but stay away from any meat or poultry in the food court. It is not simply the speciality of the house. In all, I believe it worth visiting it as a museum -at least once- if you are in the area.

A true hidden treasure. The most excellent and odd combo of a win bar, restaurant and wine shop you can imagine. Service minded staff, good food and a selection of wines you can’t find in many places.
