Cidrerie Ttipia

This is a Basque style cidrerie restaurant. We stumbled upon it while exploring the less visited side of Bayonne across the bridge where the University is located. We found the family staff helpful and kind. More importantly, the food was terrific, and so was the cider. It is a set menu, so they serve it family style in courses. When we were there it was a cod omelette, salad and roasted fish, and grilled beef. We thought it was terrific. The cider, as is traditional, is self service from the barrel. I can't wait to go back.

Cidrerie Ttipia was a recommendation from the surf shop, we took classes with, as we asked for a really authentic, local place. And it turned out just perfect: the food is amazing, and the atmosphere is very nice: you sit at long wooden tables, and - when you have the 4 course set menu - the food is served on big platters for your group to share, so you feel right at home. Included in the set menu is French and Spanish cider - all you can drink. While that's great, this drink should not be underestimated...

We were looking for an authentic place to dine and we found it. The fish and the meat were superb! We could have done with a bigger cut of cheese for desert, but apart from that it was perfect. You will not leave hungry!

The cider experience, direct from the spigot, is not to be missed. The menu is varied, and excellent. The goat cheese salad is lovely, as is the split pea soup. Espresso served in a glass, old school all the way.

On a cold winter's evening, this restaurant was perfect. Warm welcome, tasty good quality food, good value. We left thoroughly rejuvenated!
