We chose this restaurant because it looked very charming, which it is. The restaurant is nicely decorated and we found a place easily. The waitress was very nice and happy to help. Throughout the whole dinner the service was good. The entree was very good which was a tomato with lemon oil and vanilla. Very good combination! Unfortunately the main course was off. The galette we ordered was very dry and we think the meat with the galette was just put into frying oil for a long time. It lacked sauce, taste and composition. Furthermore we ordered cote de boeuf, which was priced with 9€/100g on the menu. When the meat came we were shocked by its first impression. It was a pile of meat pieces, a huge load of fat and a view leaves of lettuce. Not one big piece or a finished piece sliced for the serving but a lot of little pieces each individually fried. Furthermore the meat consisted more than 50% fat. The huge pile didn’t look very appealing nor did it while eating when you have the whole plate covered in fat pieces. The meat was served with fries and salt sauces (which were served 10 minutes later which is a mistake that can happen but still makes the experience not better). The waitress asked if everything was fine and was eager to help, which was nice. However we saw that the table next to us received a cote de boeuf just a view minutes after we let the waitress in on our experience and they were served a good looking piece of meat. Felt like we did get cutoffs from the meat. Before the serving we were not told how much meat will be served. At the end we payed more than 130€ for the food. Because of our experience we didn’t have to pay the aperitifs, which was a nice gesture. Still we Can not recommend chez nico from our experience.
