This Michelin-starred restaurant at Chatel Novel in Varetz made me realize what importance timing, generosity and surprise means to great gastronomy.We - a family of four - celebrated a birthday and decided to go for a three-meal-course at this restaurant which I am told should be the only Michelin-starred in the entire region.We were placed on the terrace just outside the castle with a wiev of the vallye just in front. And already at the beginning came the first surprise: three different appetizers. Every one of them did exactly what they should: called for more in an extremely delicious way.Then - a few moments later - the starters arrived. Everything tasted amazing, were extremely well balanced and seductive. And here is where the timing comes in: the waiters were on their toes to read whenever you needed an extra piece of bread or a little more wine.No necessary waiting - and no hurry either. Precisely the right moment the main course arrived and as all the other food it was perfect prepared and served.And then the next surprise: a rather big birthday cake served on a plate of slate in front of the birthday child. And the moment after she tasted it the waiter discretely asked hyer if he should divide it into four. He did and we all enjoyed it.The desserts arrived with the same sort of natural flow as the rest, and when we finally thought the dinner has reached it's end a small - I dont know what to call it - piece of goodbye sweet ? - was served for us.Each and every piece of food was carefully treated and tasted sublime. What can I say? If you are within a 100 miles from this Chateau in Varetz - hurry.

Nous avons été surclassés en chambre supérieure la 26 dans le donjon . Tout d'abord un accès difficile marches et accès étroits . Un lit romantique mais court , attention si vous êtes grand pas plus d'un mètre 1,80 . Un joli point de vue du donjon sur le parc . Le hic c'est de pouvoir prendre une douche en effet peut être aurait fallu aller au puit chercher l'eau !!! Même après 10 mn d'attente l'eau chaude se fait désirer et très rare un simple filet d'eau . Mesdames prévoir le coiffeur avant de vous rendre au château car vous ne pourrez pas laver vos cheveux ... le petit déjeuner à 22 euros par personne est lui aussi très insuffisant pas de sale chaud ni service à table un buffet très classique avec œufs coque seulement . Bref pas la vie de château . Pas au niveau du tarif applique 404 euros .

assez inegale. la cadre est magnifique. le service assez aleatoire on ne presente pas les plats, on ne debarasse pas les verres d'apperitifs,... . Le service est super lent apperitif 50 min apres notre arrivé mais pour un dimanche de paques en famille...ce n'est pas genant. La cuisine est variable...certains plats super fins et suprenant dessert au rose litchi, ravioles de langoustines d'autres assez decevants et certains servis...froids et donc renvoyés en cuisisne. Le vrai soucis est les quantites ou pour un menu a 90 euros on n'a pas faim en sortant mais on est content de diner ....par contre la carte des vins a bq de bons rapports qualité prix. ils ont la courtoise de nous offrir l'apperitif.

Here, we sleep and eat well! Old-fashioned charm, canvases hung on the walls of large rooms, very large even, a service that is sometimes a little whimsical, but that is part of the charm of the place. Value for money; exceptional! I go back there as soon as I cross France.

A beautiful establishment and a team motivated to provide service and satisfy customers. The setting is very beautiful, at the gates of Brive it is a very interesting alternative. Well done !
