We didn't actually eat or drink here as such, instead we went up to the bar and asked whether we could buy some of their goats cheese. They make a lovely salty fresh goats cheese from their goats up in the mountains. I don't normally like fresh goats cheese that much as it can be very bland, but this is lovely with a great flavour, we bought a whole one for €12 to take home with us, luckily our hotel room had a fridge. It's a 5 minute walk up the hill from the restaurant El Fronton until you get to a little ramshackle bar then you ask the woman behind the counter if she has any cheese at which point she goes to get another lady who has the cheese. It all seems very hush-hush like queso is a code word for some sort of contraband instead of just cheese! We later saw this cheese for sale at the big market in Santa Cruz for more money, but it was really nice to get it ourselves and actually see where it comes from and also it is better for the producers financially if you buy it directly from them.
