Camping La Chaumiere

My wife and I stopped one evening at this site on our way to the channel tunnel.Other reviews would suggest that the owner is gruff, rude and unhelpful. We saw none of this he is clearly a character but was fine. The other reviews also say that the food here is brilliant. It is. There were four choices for each of three courses on the chalkboard. All clearly prepared fresh on site. All for €19Toilets and other amenities on site were clean and in good order. The owner does have two large dogs which roam the site during the day. As soon as dinner was available (1930) the owner put the dog as away. And we didn't see the reported dog poops all around the site. The pitches are large with well established bushes separating them there is water and electricity to each pitch. There are a few tired looking "entertainments" such as a mini golf and some games in the large communal bar area but we didn't really have need or time to use them. It's 37 miles from the tunnel and it's an easy journey. Will we use the site again? . Absolutely. Don't expect a polished plasticised corporate site but do enjoy it for the character of the site and the brilliant food.

Visited the site for 5 nights in August 2016, it's about 40 minutes away from the tunnel, the site only has one shower block, this houses a single shower and a disabled shower, a washing machine room, a baby changing/washing room, three toilets and a washing up room, each plot is hedged with power, water and a bin supplied, THERE IS NOT DOG MUCK ALL OVER THE SITE, however if there was I would suggest the owners of the dog should clean it up, the owner Guy is miserable (typical french man in my view) and he has two dogs but they don't roam the site capping everywhere, they hardly leave the club house.The club house serves meals and drinks, there is a play area inside with ping pong and a child's park and trampoline, the pool is open air and was not ice cold.Each hedged site has hard standing and also a soft pitch for tents.Recommended quiet family friendly safe site with none of the usual static caravans.We've been here twice to explore France and would come back.

Le camping est calme, parfait pour se reposer.Malheureusement, il manque cruellement d'entretien.Quant à l'accueil, il laisse vraiment à désirer. Le patron est plutôt antipathique. L'entrée de son établissement est bien surveillée.Nous avons rebroussé chemin pour manger sur place, l'endroit semblait sale et mal odorant, en adéquation avec l'état du camping.

Accueil froid et sans une parole. Je ne parle même pas de l accueil le cigarillo au bec! Les emplacements sont spacieux. Néanmoins, le camping manque cruellement d'entretient! Sanitaire moyen niveau propreté. Ce camping a du avoir son heure de gloire mais ca c était avant...

Camping vieillissant mais qui a une très jolie piscine, bien assez grande pour le nombre d'emplacement. Très calme et les emplacements sont parfaitement séparés. Pour une nuit c'est l'idéal.
