Campanile Reims Ouest Tinqueux

The suburb of Tinqueux is close to the motorway exit and has a busy retail park with the likes of Ikea. There are several budget hotels but few restaurants. The Campanile is a short walk from them and probably the best option in the area. It has a nice outdoor area for warm summer days although there is traffic noise. We have eaten here on a number of occasions when stopping overnight at the Premier Classe, a part of the same hotel group, at the start and end of our holiday. Don't expect anything fancy, the plat du jour comes with pasta, salad, green beans or chips. The buffet (starters and desserts) in all Campaniles used to be so much better in years gone by but at least you can see what you are getting and eat as much as you like.With a 15% voucher (from Premier Classe) 2 buffet starters, 2 plats du jour, 2 glasses of champagne and a half litre of wine was a reasonable 43 Euros.Pity they do not serve any nuts or crackers with the drinks these days, cutting corners that do not save much money seems miserly.

Close by the Premiere Classe (which I wouldn't recommend),! which gave us a 15% discount voucher. Been a while since we last went to a Campanile restaurant, and it hasn't changed much. Pretty standard menu, with buffet for entrees and desserts, and a very limited range of mains. I went for the bavette steak with the two buffets, my wife just went for the two buffets, which suited her just right. Choices in buffets quite good, with plenty of protein in the starters and a good choice of desserts, mostly based around fruits. Enjoyable meal, and, with the 15% off voucher, very good value.

A 'passing through' motel easily accessed from the motorway. The chap on reception was brilliant, he didn't speak much English and I don't speak much French, but he was so friendly and helpful. Rooms are motel style, i.e, all have their own entrances. Restaurant was surprisingly good but there are other options in the area - it is a commercial and residential estate. Great if you have a dog as plenty of exercise areas yards away. Rooms fairly basic but have all you need.

One of worst meals ever eaten in France. Ordered artichoke lasagne - it was obviously reheated and burnt and tasteless. Have eaten in other Campanile before and was very satisfied. Will not return or recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant is one of the worst I have ever visited in France. The food is terrible and the staff are so disinterested it’s amazing anyone ever eats here.
