Cafe de L'europe

Having been in Avallon since just after lunch by evening hungry and looking for a quick and handy fill up. Looks better from outside with pavement area but it was getting cooler and we headed inside. Quite basic local bar style with large pool table...in corner and not cosy/quaint french feel with little English spoken. slightly feeling of silence as we entered but by going up to bar and ordering a couple of drinks ice broken.. Despite that managed to order steaks and starters which both were surprisingly tasty despite rather basic surroundings. Service was OK with waitress who managed to smile despite language gap and price cheap. Suited us and so was very good (as cheap and almost cheerful) but not if you wanted any frills- in which case you would be disappointed. Other more expensive places in town but for us less convenient and in some cases already closed for the night

Not even had the time to taste anything, so the welcome was distractable!Why stay open late if seeing customers arrive around 9:00 (if you can call it later) bothers you? You're not done for this job! because your job is to love to receive people, to satisfy them so that they come back and talk about you ... and well there it's missing! I don't speak in addition to the cleanliness of the terrace which was empty and which could have been cleaned but it sticks with the unstable reception. In summary, don't even stop, here we don't want you!

There's very little positive to say about this cafe, other than its great corner location for people watching. Menu limited, food preparation and freshness marginal at best, ambiance to match. Waiter was fine, so no complaints about service. For any reviewer rating this a great...place for food or coffee, I'd have serious doubts.

Despite it being fully opened at a time when most bars and cafès serve food and despite having a menu on display this place was not willing to provide even a snack. Desultory service at best. However, at least on a Tuesday evening, Avallon doesn't...provide much in dining choices, so maybe they are in step with the town.

large terrace overlooking a passing road. Very limited. 15min before you see us and then wait for order.
