We have been here before quite a while ago but thought I would review again. We were there with our adult grandchildren for lunch. While it was very cold outside the enclosed courtyard was warm and cosy with gas heaters . We ordered wedges for starters and our serving lass wandered around the room with them....obviously didn't have any idea of the table numbers. Wedges were fine but a little over cooked. There didn't appear to be table service so eventually we ordered our mains from the counter. Steaks were apparently reasonably good but there seemed to be the feeling that while rump was ordered, the steak did seem too thick for rump...steamed vegetables were uninspiring. The Guinness pie was ok but I felt the filling was very uneven and it maybe hadn't been cooked during the morningEmpty plates were left on the table until we went to the server and asked for them to be cleared. This is why I rated the service as pretty poor. All in all it was a pretty disappointing experience.

We had a date night at The British and used a 'Split the bill' coupon which means we buy one main course and get the 2nd free......... great deal. it was a relatively busy night, food was good, hubby had lamb curry which was only mild and not medium as listed, i had the lamb shank with carrot, celery & mash but there was not a lot of veg at all...... although the lamb shank was quite large.Taste was good but one of my PET HATES is that you have to pay for sides!! On average $9 per side! If you pay $25 + for a meal INCLUDE the veg!!! Meals are on average $22-$29 which is standard but the drinks for a pub are a bit of a shock! A glass of unknown Sav Blanc was $14 and hubby got a unknow shiraz for $14 as the known brands started at $18! the glasses are big and the wine is low in the glass so looks like you are not getting much for your money but it is a standard drink. Not sure i would go back, and definitely wouldnt go back without a voucher!

Whilst staying in Adelaide our friends were keen to take us to this traditional pub in a very nice part of North Adelaide. We were seated in the courtyard on a cold & windy evening but warm enough. Both food & wine is ordered separately at different counters. Steak are a specialty & if you are up to it you can grill your own. Our meals were all excellent. Yes service is not the best but more worrying for us was the overcharging at both the alcohol counter & food counter. Not good enough & we trust they were genuine mistakes.

If waiting nearly 1 hour in moderately busy lunch service is acceptable then go for it. No appology for the poor service and rude bar staff it made for a very unpleasant experience. The food was average at best and as mentioned the service needs a brush up. For a pub charging high end restaurant prices it would be a better idea to give them a miss. It was once a great place and always a winner for food. Sadly my last visit. No wonder businesses struggle with behaviour like this.
