"Warmly welcomed and the food was nicely prepared. Two of us just had the main course small steal and chips and 25cl house wine and it came to 58 euros. I felt it was rather overpriced for mid day."

Nicely located, overlooking the Trieux river, just a short walk from the cathedral this is a good place for lunch or evening meal. Always welcoming, the menu selection has a good range of fish meat or vegetarian dishes with a changing lunchtime menu. I like the modern feel of the place which was once an old stone building, tastefully transformed into a light and airy place to eat and relax. This place scores highly on the aesthetic side of eating which to me has great importance. Food is always perfectly presented without it pretentiously looking like it has prepared by Picasso or chucked on the plate by an angry and overworked chef. Sometimes they have the shellfish - Ormeau. which if you like scallops, I would highly recommend. The place can be very busy at lunchtime with many people having business lunches so go early to avoid waiting. In fact my only criticism is that service can be slow if it is already busy and you turn up after 1pm for lunch. When in France, as I have said before, to get the best service and the plat du jour go early as you can. This is not a consumer led country, you have to fit in with them!

Sunday lunch at L'O was simply dreadful. I was offerred their 'starter of the day' which consisted of a very hard piece of toast with a single strip of cheese drizzled with a few lardons. I then ordered lieu jaune with a blood orange sauce - what a disaster. Frozen fish which was served cold, dry and inedible. I sent it back, and was offered a burger instead. This also turned out cold, the fries cold and inedible with a few limp lettuce leaves. I sent this back as well - it was truly awful. For a couple, the bill was 75 euos, including half a bottle of wine. No discount or apology for the awful food - time to get a new chef I think - he simply cannot cook, or keep food warm until it is served. I will never go here again.

An atractive setting just off the town centre overlooking the river. The terrace must be popular of a warm evening at weekends. Tastefully furnished in a purposeful manner. The staff are charming and anxious to please without being intrusive. Reasonable fixed price menus are matched by sensibly priced wines. Nothing outstanding on the menu but nobody was disappointed.

The restaurant has a large window on the small river, with a romantic and idyllic view : this is the sixty percent of the value. Food in the average, cafe gourmand to try and since in Guingamp there is no a lot of restaurants, this is a good option anyway.
