Bierakademie Alt Kappeln

Not a secret any more, this place is heaving between 6 and 8pm. Most guests are after their signature dish: a massive plate full of spare ribs (sauce costs extra!). You will not leave hungry. And the full plastic poncho served with each of these meals (against the otherwise inevitable splashes on your clothes) makes for entertaining photos. I might have been a bit stupid to order wine here, given the name. Hence I should not have been surprised to get my Chardonnay lukewarm...

Zwischen Mai und Oktober kann man keine Bierakademie belegen, und man muss sich auch vorher anmelden. Beides steht nicht in der Webseite, was echt ätzt wenn man extra aus München/per Eckernförde nach Kappeln kommt...Ich will betonen: Man war sehr freundlich und das Essen gut, da gibt es nichts zu rütteln. Nur war halt der Tag verschenkt, wäre da besser nach Schleswig gefahren. Schade...

People go to this restaurant for the ribs and boy they are HUGE, meaty and delicious. Service is polite and swift and did I mention that the ribs are delicious? We sat outside in the tent as temperatures were very nice, so I cannot speak to the atmosphere inside.

Im überdachten Terrassenbereich dieses urigen kleinen Restaurants werden SparRibs serviert, die in Geschmack und Grillkunst keine Wünsche offen lassen und ob ihrer Größe selbst so manchen guten Esser vor eine echte Herausforderung stellen.

A very nice decorated small place to sit inside with typical German people meeting there and playing cards. Very friendly waitress, prices for drinks normal.
