Baleenkitchen - Reservar uma mesa

Today we made reservations to celebrate my birthday at Baleen’s and it’s hard for me to express how disappointed we were. The waiter Jared was horrible. The restaurant was empty, Yet we waited minutes for him to come over. When our guest inquired about the fish tacos, we were told they were fried, but they could be grilled instead. My husband and our guest both then decided on the chicken sandwich. *which was fried.....this was not mentioned on the menu....and Jared never mentioned nor was described as coming with fries, which they did not want. So basically, they did not eat any of it. My lobster roll was very disappointing, but that is not Jared’s fault. When the the barely touched lunch plates were cleared and we expressed to Jared how disappointing the fried sandwiches and fries were, he placed the dessert menu on the edge of the table and asked if we wanted dessert. By then, we just wanted the check and to leave. Now come the best part. We asked for the bill to be split on credit cards. Jared did split the bill, it he charged both to my husband’s card. When my Husband checked his credit card statement, the card had been run and credited almost a dozen times This whole experience was not only disappointing but so embarrassing for me. I spent the rest of the day apologizing to my friend. This is not how I expected to spend my birthday lunch.

The food was excellent, with a nice variety to choose from and the prices were reasonable for a fancy restaurant. The portions were somewhat small, however. The piece of key lime pie we had for desert was tiny. The setting is beautiful, in the marina with a view of all the boats. However, the restaurant might want to install shades on the ocean side because the sun shining into the restaurant was very bright for those sitting on that side. One customer was holding a paper folding fan up to his face with one hand while he ate with the other, in order to block the sun from his face.

Beautiful setting and lovely restaurant ambiance. Had indicated it was our anniversary, and had actually been married there. Host wished us a happy anniversary and asked us to be seated while they prepared our table. We waited, while several other parties were seated. We were finally seated, in a small table for two, in the middle of floor, nearest to the galley. I was shocked. Other parties of two were seated at large tables for at the window with a view. Food was good, our server was ok but never a mention of the anniversary again. I was really disappointed to be honest.

The location was good, the food was good, the service was very very slow. They had extra people preparing a banquet room, and they could have helped, while the room was not used. But no. The food is okay, the service will make me think twice.
