For over 30 years now I have been traveling to different parts of France in connection with my business. On my way home to England from South West of France towards the end of July my wife and I stopped off at the small town of Montlucon for an overnight break.Purely by chance during the evening of our stay we found this little creperie. It is in an old part of the town not far from the river. Blink and you could miss it. It is nestled in the shadows of an ancient church and in a small street of quaint buildings all of some very considerable antiquity. We sat outside to have our meal. Looking around us you could almost imagine that things had not changed there for over 400 years.Being a creperie of course, they are only serving crepes, but wow what crepes they are. There were over 80 different crepes to choose from.L’ Autel de la Crepe is certainly an establishment for those with a discerning palate and for those who can appreciate really good food at it’s very best.My wife had No. 79 Framoisine. A light pancake, cream, vanilla ice cream and Raspberry sauce.I had No 29 Saint Jacques. A light pancake, 5 large scallops, finely sliced green vegetable (courgettes I think) and a wonderful thick butter
