Auberge de Poleymieux is situated in, you guessed it, Poleymieux au Mont D'Or, a typical Village Montagnards on the north western outskirts of Lyon. Mont D'Or is a large hill, small mountain, 30 min. drive from the center of Lyon. Mont D'Or is famous for its pierres dore, golden stone. The Auberge is a charming old building, made of just these stones. The Auberge is owned and run by Mme.Peytel together with a charming crew of local ladies. This is a good and simple restaurant. Lunch is 14,50 Euros, 3 courses, 1/4 of local wine and coffee. Evening & weekends. 24 Euros, the food is local, homemade and generous. If you want to try something really special, go during the hunting season. A speciality is stew of wild boar cooked in beer, provided by the hunters of the Mont D'Or, I won't even try to describe it.In the summertime sit on the shady terrace at the front and in the winter indoor in front of the fireplace. Like one of the other reviewers said-well worth a detour.

Excellent restaurants are sometimes found in the quietest of places. And this is the case with the Auberge de Poleymieux. The village is small and beautiful, and the restaurant is situated in a fabulous old building, with a view. The waitress was charming, friendly and helpful on arrival. we knew we were off to a good start. The dinner menu, at €24pp is excellent value for money. I started with seafood salad - fresh and plentiful. For main course, I had the best roast duck that I have ever tasted, and lots of it. Dessert was a must! But when the waitress read out the list of options, I found myself in a big quandry - I would have easily chosen one of everything: Creme Brulee, Almond tart, Chocolate mousse, Lemon tart. There were 4 of us at dinner, and we were still talking about it 2 days later. Superb food, nice wine and excellent service. Well worth a detour!

The restaurant is in a charming location and slightly smells wood (chimney in winter). The owners are very welcoming and their food is simple but really enjoyable and good. Go for a lunch in numbers: you ll be really well

Parfait pour se restaurer lors d'une ballade dans la région. Cuisine familiale, produits des environs, rapport qualité/prix favorable. Mais à midi un seul menu, pas d autre choix possible. Dommage.
