Au Moulin De La Wantzenau

We have eaten here once before but this time it seemed so much better. The interiors have had a revamp. The menu is considered and would meet most peoples tastes. We both had the deer which just melted and accompanying purees were just correct and balanced the meal well. The puddings were a delight having to wait for them to be freshly cooked was a privilege. The wine list was extensively French with a good regional selection. The service was professional and friendly.

The food was nice. Quality is there, quantity is perfect, desserts are great. Nevertheless, the reception was terrible, and the service is clearly something they could improve. On that last point, it is clearly not what I expect from an Alsatian venue. But don't get me wrong, service is way better than what you can get in a Parisian bistro. But, again, this is suppose to be fine dining, so you expect more on that side.

Great place,. Things were a bit chaotic when I arrived. A group of European parliamentarians had arrived for a corporate event. Naja. Maitre remained totally unflappable and found me a wonderful table next to the garden. Staff were similarly unfazed. The food is proper alsation cookery. Classic. Rich. Great. Good selection of wines. Not cheap, but good value.

The food and the experience was amazing. We were together will our 2 kids and we all loved it. We had the “ menu découverte “ , our son choose from “à la carte ” and our daughter from kids menu choices. There was not one single thing on the hole menu that we had not enjoyed. Very tasty and I even can’t describe the wine! Just amazing !

Very comfortable and friendly hotel with safe parking. Has just changed hands but the quality and service are still good. Recommended for an overnight stay on journey from or to the UK and Switzerland or Italy.
