Ashmolean Rooftop

The staff is so wonderful. Our waitress was so professional and managed her job well, we never wait, despite the order many times and moved tables to take dessert outdoors. And it was busy, but she had everything under control. The old man on the table next to us was good, but rude to her. He tried to speak with her in German because she 'a accent 'She was politely back to him, but it must have been irritated to her because she firmly said 'I am not German'. I bet the staff with accents is made quite a lot of rude assumptions about them by scrupulous old Oxford types, and I felt like I wanted to say to her 'sorry he's an rude old man'. I tried to type them in cash at the end of the meal, but she refused and said the service fee was already on the bill. The food was delicious and presented the coffee and wine were good and we really enjoyed our meal. Atmostphere/ Music was beautiful. It was for a birthday and it felt special and fun so thank you. We look forward to the next exhibition and dinner:

A beautiful restaurant, but clearly challenged by hospitality and supply chain problems. Five of our party of six ordered dishes served with chips only after the food was delivered that they ran out of ketchup. If we had known at the place of the order, I would definitely have ordered another court. I return to enjoy the special menu, but the rest of the family who are hesitant to prioritize good meals are unlikely.

The roof terrace was a really nice place to eat as the weather was good. Immediate service was great, we sat fast and our order was taken in time. Then the wait began, 40 minutes before we got our food! To be fair, our waitress came by after about 20 minutes to apologize for waiting and told us she spoke to the manager. The food was worth waiting and they knocked 50% off the bill by compensation. I'd go back.

We had a wonderful meal with a gorgeous view overlooking the roof terrace and the famous Randolph Hotel opposite the Ashmolean. The food was delicious and beautifully presented and the service was very good. Overall, it was a brilliant way to have lunch before seeing the incredible exhibition 'Labyrinth ', which is all about Knossos on the island of Crete.

We had lamb koftas and broccoli soup. The soup was good as were the koftas, which came with crisp lettuce and tzatziki. The only component which let down the Greek dish was the flatbread, which was dry and tough.
