This is a cozy restaurant in the historic setting of a former brewery across from the church. There are dining rooms to the right and left of the entry. There is room for parties and regular customers. It is furnished in a 'rustic style'...with lots of wood panelling. They call it 'urig' in German (natural and unrefined). There seemed to be a lot of action going on with people happily drinking beer and was very crowded. A reservation would be a good idea............Service was very friendly and the food extremely 'wholesome' and 'gutbuergerlich' (solid middle class) and portions huge !!! It is German comfort food. On two different occasions we had 'Leberkaese', Hacksteak (Salisbury steak) , Schweinsbaeckchen (pork cheeks) and "Strammer Max" (bread with ham and eggs). I was surprised to see that big dogs were allowed to come in and lie at the foot of the table. The restaurant seemed to be popular with the 'makers and shakers' of the small town as the mayor also was eating there. Years ago they were also open for lunch, but now only open at PM. Nice place, noisy and 'urig'
