Booked an afternoon tea for my mum’s birthday, no staff at the restaurant (despite having a booking and 2 other customers sat eating). After waiting 10 minutes I had to ask a different staff member if any staff were in the restaurant, she was very helpful and then made a call and a staff member appeared to seat us. Afternoon tea itself was disappointing, sandwiches were not as advertised a “toasted club sandwich” was a BLT, a “salmon and cream cheese bagel” was a ham sandwich and a “beetroot and humous wrap” was a sandwich with a mysterious red paste. Our server didn’t explain any substitutions before walking off. She did refill our tea, provide milk sugar etc in a timely manner when asked. The server would sometimes not be present visible for a prolonged period of time which would have caused issues had you wanted anything to request the bill. At 1pm when there are customers present this surprised me (I.e. if it was immediately after breakfast rush or just prior to evening meal I would understand them having lots of other tasks). For such a highly regarded hotel we were both disappointed and though the food was fine (despite the quiches but that’s personal preference) we wouldn’t recommend it for an afternoon tea to others.

Best burger and chips I’ve had in a long time. Kimberley and Eve made me feel very welcome and their standard of service was excellent. I can’t fault the food not the service. I will return.

I must be missing something. It calls itself a grill house and the website makes it sound like all manner of high quality steaks are served. We turned up at 4.50 to be presented with a very small menu offering one steak, but the rest no more than usual pub fare fish and chips, burger, curry, pizza. Was that the lunch menu I wonder? Didn't have time to go elsewhere so we had fish and a burger. Burger was OK once past the unbearably sweet relish but the fish was minuscule honestly what I'd give a child and the peas were dried up and actually burnt in places (microwave? . Pretty blah overall and over priced. The cutlery and floor were dirty. However, what really stuck in my craw was that after being ignored by 7 members of staff for at least 5 minutes, when someone eventually arrived to sest us despite only 3 tables being occupied and it being very early we were smartly marched through the restaurant and put around a corner behind a wall where the high chairs and other supplies were stored. Would this have happened if we were 20 something beautiful things with perma tans and 6 inch heels rather than the smartly dressed 50 odds we are? I think not. Don't think I didn't notice. Absolute disgrace

Very quiet, Poor/slow service Rice was cheap, very poorly cooked or from a packet. Cocktails are delicious.

Steak and burger pretty good, a little on the expensive side, service a shambles, they had no idea about our booking, they thought we were there for afternoon tea, had to open the kitchen for us even though we’d booked for lunch, why let us book if you’re not ready to serve lunch at 12:30pm on a Friday…. Booking was painful in the first place the month before. Just a shambles of miscommunication and ability. We won’t return I’m afraid, this place is meant to be a top steak house in Leeds according to TA and Google, the staff are not ready for that accolade. When we asked for the bill we were presented with a card reader with an amount on the screen, with no explanation of what that total was for, the waitress mumbled something and I just paid as we needed to leave, it turned out when we got bill afterwards the service was included in that amount, shameful thing to mislead from a member of staff! The one waitress who delivered condiments and served our dessert was the only person who knew what they were doing on front of house…. Well done that lady.

I was staying in the hotel and we had decided to take advantage of the DBB offer which worked out at £20 per person for two courses. We sat in one of the raised booths and were given the set menu. I was quite impressed at the choices on offer. There wasn’t loads and probably too many burgers if that’s not your thing but still a good choice. I had the goats cheese and beetroot salad to start and my friend the karaage chicken. The salad was delicious and one of the best I have ever had anywhere. I was really impressed. For main I had the chicken breast on bean cassoulet with chorizo and crispy kale. It was probably a strange combination but it all worked so well and was nicely spicy. My friend had the fish and chips and the triple cooked chips of which I pinched a couple were to die for. Our deal at the hotel included a bottle of wine and on check in it was put to us that we could have this with the meal . Probably the only slight disappointment was that we couldn’t change the white or red option to rose. The white was ok, I’d have preferred a Sauvignon or Pinot. We even offered to pay the difference but was told it wasn’t possible. No big deal but I just don’t see why it wasn’t possible to change. I have stayed at the hotel numerous times but this was the first time I have had the dinner option and I would highly recommend. There was even a steak option on the menu priced at £34 so to pay £20 for two courses is a no brainer!

Great meal and service at this restaurant. We came for our anniversary meal. The waiter Saeed Hussain was a great host. We would have liked more choices on the menu.

We came for a late afternoon meal and both the food and service were amazing. We could see the kitchen from where we were sitting and could see the chef preparing our meals. I got the ribs to start, which fell off the bone, and the burger for my main which was really tasty and well presented. It's part of the hotel and it was quiet when we visited but that meant the service was quick. Would recommend and will be visiting again!
