Purl's self-confessed aim is to bring classic cocktails back to the forefront of London's drinking scene, whilst adding new flare and creativity to forgotten libations'. Taking its name from an old drink of warm ale, gin and wormwood (rather than a knitting term), Purl is nestled between Baker Street and Marylebone High Street, and was the forerunner of Shoreditch's Worship Street Whistling Shop. purl is a dizzy with a romantic relaxing environment. with live music and really creative cocktail options.
fantastic! I wanted to try this bar for a long time and finally finish her here. beautiful environment, drinks were amazing, personal were brilliant friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. the drinks came in quirky glasses and with a bit of theater one was served in an iondon tourist moneybox, one came in a mini flowering pit and came in a peculiar killer crug with a balloon attached. the ballon was added with a lighter before us when it was served, a little fun at the drinking experience. I'm sure we'll come back here.
the drinks were only in order, the concept of food pairing was interesting, and there was live jazz. However, the venue was very humid and full of mosquitoes when I left what they shouldn't be as pleasant at night.
if they are on the look for a truly spectacular cocktail with a wow factor, they are not looking further than purl, an underground cocktail bar near the baker street. very creative cocktails with crisp visual and unexpected taste, purl has taken a side of fat, but transfer it to cocktail creation. try sevillian when they are a fan of Spanish eating, chorizo washed gin perfectly with garlic tomaten, a quite unusual but funny experience.
A must go to – book in advance and you will get a 2 hour slot in Marylebone's speakeasy bar right next to the Chiltern Firehouse. An array of odd cocktails (mine came in a sun lotion pot) and complimentary cucumber sandwiches. Around £12 a cocktail but worth it for the atmosphere and the quirkiness.
outstanding speakeasy bar with unique personelle and carefully selected music of blues, swing, vocal and rock n roll. it delivera what it promises and is an ideal hangout for dates, with mates or just hiding out in marylebone. i hope more of this kind open up in west london.
Purl is a really cool underground bar, with a buzzing yet casual atmosphere. I visited for drinks with a few friends recently. I love the jazz music playing; not many bars in London play only jazz, but it creates an intimate feel for a relaxed evening. Given the size of the venue, there is quite a lot of seating, so you don't have to linger around the bar. The staff are usually quite friendly, however when it gets busy they seem to always be rushed and unwilling to assist. Purl has a wide selection of drinks, and the cocktails are a must try. Given its location, the drinks are reasonably priced. I had a great evening and will be returning soon.
