we have had our caravans in the primrose valley for ten years and passed this pub at numerous locations. the ball at the end of the last year and now our family of six are regular. in the opposite you find no more friendly and cleaner pub. the food and drinks are excellent and the service is fantastic.
this little hidden gem is a hive of local activity, and if it is popular with locals, it must be good. the renter was very welcoming, we booked a table and when we arrived, he welcomed us like old friends! the eating portions were huge and hot. would definitely visit again if in the opposite and hungry!

my partner, daughter and I decided to eat some new food at the last visit from Scarborough. the restaurant 55 is located on the main road that leads to the city from the sea. we didn't know what to expect when we came in, seeing a bit of drab, but when my other half starved, he needed food and the waiter who greeted us showed us a table next to the window with magnificent views of the coast. it did not take us long to decide what we wanted, fish and chips for him, half a buck for me and an additional teller as the daughter usually shares us. we waited for one because for our food, but it was worth waiting because it was extraordinary! the chicken was moist and tasteful, and the chips, boiled in their skin and seasoned with crumbles and what looked like sea salt were devine! the fish that my partner assured me, between mouth filling was also wonderful! and the waiter was more than happy to supply the additional plate for my daughter, and there was more than enough food for all three of us! we were really satisfied and surprised to find restaurant 55, the prices were reasonable, which were very beautiful and important to eat.
So was expecting a lovely night which ended up in disaster. There was groups in front and was happy to wait however because one of the family members has an assistance dog, another groups of people who came in after us got served......we asked the question why this was as we have now been waiting minutes, to get a very stroppy miserable lady saying because you have a dog and will be seated in the doggy area. To which I clearly stated under the assistance dogs acts we are allowed to sit anywhere and can not be treated unfairly or discriminated, which was the case. We was then seated, ordered food of which was not great. Kids meal average, baguettes very bland and salad minimal. They seem to of put the prices up across the menu but the food is not the same quality. It is no longer good value for money and a friendly village pub that it has been previously know for. Such a shame but will not be returning, if management has changed they definitely need the old management to come back.
