as table of 11 for a birthday meal. initially the waiting staff was amazing that amd could not blame that she tried to do everything she could to make the experience. sadly, management was just rude. the manager himself- Debbie, decided to go a long break as soon as she heard of the waitress we wanted to complain. then to meet someone who every time I try to get involved with something in the bar and ignored me. so first on Sunday they don't offer a Sunday menu as the website suggests, but they can only order roasts, that's good we did that. only what they call a homemade roast is 3 frozen small pre-baked bratkartoffels and the smallest tasteless cuts of roast beef and a stone-hard yorkshire and a few cheesy the child's meal is the same size only a less kartoffel. I asked the courtesy of the waitress who apologized and said she would talk to the kitchen that she then returned and said they would cook now. So I started eating my tasteless roast. she then returned and said they had run out of kartoffel, so I asked if a manager could come and talk to us. that was at 5 o'clock. then she can come back to tell me that the manager would come and talk to us. it has 6 clock and no sign of manager. we just wanted to get on this stage. So I went up to the bar, and the man said he had climbed when the manager had taken a break. he has made us responsible for the fact that the roast is as we arrived at 4 o'clock. (they serve until 8.30 o'clock) apparently cook it on the morning and then heat it again, if necessary explained a lot! then he said they had stopped serving food and ran out of potatoes (they still have eating and eating a few) and to top that from my neffen went back to the pub after we had the dead and the manager had suddenly got up again! I then also came to be aware of a contribution to there Facebook page later this evening for others and they answered with a very rude answer. please do not eat them in this pub and if they are warned about the rudeness and lies out of the administration and the tasteless other expensive food.
we were here for a night, the accommodation was first class the rooms were immaculate with tea coffee etc in the room and outside was a small fridge with fresh milk and ice cold water for them to help themselves. beautiful large en-suite and though. the room above the bar was all quiet at 11 o'clock. we ate in the evening in the restaurant and we found eating really good to appreciate. the breakfast was included and there was a large selection. would definitely return and I recommended it to my friends if they ever visit the donkey sanctuary as it is close.
I would like thank thank the staff at The Balfour Arms for two wonderful meals this week! When we arrived in Sidmouth, they were the first restaurant we went in to. We returned for a second wonderful meal this evening. The Balfour is dog friendly...and warmly welcomed our whole party, showing us to a table and promptly taking a drinks order. Food was served quickly and was piping hot. The portion sizes were great and presentation was excellent.
What a fantastic evening we had on Saturday! We were a big group in the garden with lots of children. You were so helpful, the children had a great time and the food was very yummy! Even though food was ordered at different times you...made an effort to get it out to us as quickly as you could altogether. We will definitely be back
We came to Lakeview again this year to celebrate our wedding anniversary, as we have done for the last years, since getting married at Lakeview in The restaurant and bar area have recently undergone a major refurbishment and it is absolutely lovely. The menu has also been changed and looks incredible. We opted for stuffed mushrooms, followed by fillet steak. Both were absolutely delicious. The fillet steak, in particular, was cooked to perfection by the brilliant chef, Jerod. The best we have EVER had. The quality of the meat was exceptional. Highly recommended. The waiting staff are also brilliant, very attentive and professional. In fact, the whole team at Lakeview are extremely friendly and work hard to make your stay the most enjoyable it can be.The venue is still as stunning and beautiful as it was when we got married years ago. It's so tranquil and relaxing. You can also dine looking out over the beautiful grounds. Well worth a visit.
this was the first time that we visited this pub, it will certainly not be the last, the menu has for everyone something, many delicious appetizers the brie and white baits were very good and for the main course 2 of us had steak, 1 had steak and rasen and the other had fish cake, all were delicious, the desert menu also looked good, but we were full to try this. our waiter was really nice, friendly and helpful and the pub has a nice ambiente.
had a Christmas meal on Sunday 18/12/17). you have to say what an absolutely fantastic meal and I am in the really good at moaning), but it was first-class, generous portions and good service. the deep fried braut was for dying!, although most of my family spided me!. finally awliscombe has a pub to be proud. also very favorable. try it, they will not be disappointed.
