"Went for lunch with my friend, had quiche and salad. The quiche was a nice flavour although by the time it had been nuked to warm it up, the pastry was soggy and the filling was greasy. The salad costing an extra £1.25 consisted of 2 slices of cucumber, 2 slices of tomato, a handful of iceberg lettuce and a tablespoon of coleslaw. This to me constitutes a garnish more than a salad. Not impressed and won 't be going back anytime soon."

First I'd like to say the shop is beautiful well laid out with happy friendly staff, the cafe on the other hand not very impressed, the attitude off staff was not great when asked about cakes, staff seem to have no knowledge of cross contamination (my husband is a celiac) and to then go and moan to the manager in front of us is very unprofessional. We reminded the staff that different tongs needed to be used when handling gluten free cake to be met with attitude over it and that we needed to ask them to use different tongs....this should be automatic in line with allergies guidelines or signs should be out saying there not able to garentee gf. The homemade cakes we had were very nice but unfortunately this was tarnished by the feeling of feeling uncomfortable sat being talked about/watched.

Been in twice lately for a Jacket Potato meal. Once upon a time this was terrific value for money the highlight being the imaginative AND extensive salad that took up most of the plate !!!! Sadly things have changed. No peppers or red onion etc. just shredded 'cheap ' lettuce and some razor cut cucumber and tomato pieces (with a token 'dollop ' of coleslaw) I assumed, on my first visit, that this was down to low stock after the latest lockdown release which is why I came back a second time. It would seem, however, that this is the all too familiar café/restaurant tactic of keeping the price the same by DECREASING the quantity and quality on the plate. Sadly, this venue is probably now OFF the list......

My family and I came in for lunch and had 3 coronation chicken sandwiches (the filling was lovely but there were no crisps that the sandwiches usually come with, and only one slice of tomato and a tiny bit of lettuce and dressing). My fiancé had a chicken and bacon sandwich that was just a shop bought filling, not the fresh chicken and bacon he had expected when paying £6.25 for a sandwich on its own! The cashier at the till was lovely but our server was very brusque. We had 2 diet cokes, a lemonade and a cup of tea and all of this came to over £32 which is honestly a bit bonkers. Sadly won’t be returning.

The shop is full of excellent Knick knacks and furniture, Christmas decorations, all good quality. We spent as two couples over £200 on stuff. The visit was spoilt when we went to the cafe for tea and cake, we had a lemon meringue pie and asked for another one, but was told no because that would mean cutting in to a new cake, that they we’re keeping for tomorrow, we also offered to buy half a cake that was refused, attitude was awful this was at 3.20pm in the afternoon spoilt our visit
