We booked as a group of four to go for the set Christmas meal and had great expectations after visiting their previous restaurant Aumbry in Prestwich until it seemed to close down suddenly. The restaurant is a portend off area of a cafe located in a back street of the northern quarter. We arrived and the restaurant was busy. We were promptly seated and the waitress was less than welcoming. She obviously didn't want to be there as her face didn't crack a smile once. We were given the menus to look at but were not given the vegetarian menu and had to ask for this. We then ordered and the table chose to go for the matched wines at £60pp. We were then told that there was no wine served with the first two courses and there was no offer of any other drinks to see us through this period. So a festive Saturday meal started off very dry! Once we progressed through the meal there was confusion over who was having what when the food and the wines came out, the wine glasses were hot straight from the dishwasher, the restaurant was doughty every time the front door was opened and closed, the main course was salty, the langoustines were over cooked and to top it off one of the waiters had a body odour problem! Not at all what I call fine dining and overall as very poor show. The only asset this place has is the wine sommelier who is a lovely knowledgable lady who would be better suited in a more professional establishment. Overall we paid nearly £500 for 4 people and left feeling disappointed. Do not go here, there are far far better restaurants in Manchester!!

the atmosphere was relaxed and the young man in front of the house was very satisfied and informative. we had to wait minutes to be served wein, and one of the waiters did not seem to know what they served us, what the dinge was a little confused, but apart from that the service was friendly and good. the poached Scottish langoustine monkfish, kurly kale pastrami was absolutely amazing and most other food in the night was excellent. the geese was a little hard and the desserts were not on our lust, but that was pure because we do not like Christmas. we were offered an alternative and took it, but it fell a bit short. I want to try the aumbry as soon as it is opened again. I was a little surprised at the price of the wee, which seemed very steep, but I guess that's on the cost of pop-up. the clos of the lys pinot noir was delicious, but in a bottle I would expect it to be. overall a beautiful experience.

A great place to have a social gathering or quiet study area. There is plenty of room with lots of charger sockets and even free WiFi. They have creative supplies, boardgames, a games console, books.. all surrounded by a quirky décor. There is also a balcony to sit at which I bet is lovely in summer! There is also a range of food and drinks to help yourself to on the counter and kitchen. There is not much hot variety and some of the cakes taste stale but this can be overlooked with the cheap price. Overall I would recommend and definitely check them out again.

We had heard a lot of amazing things about Aumbrey so when this popped up behind tea cup we could not resist. The set menu was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. It is more expensive than some of the surrounding restaurants but for the quality and taste you get we did not mind at all. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the interior was beautiful. We hope you stick around in the city centre!
